You know what really sucks? Anxiety. It f***ing sucks! How many of you right now reading this agree? Just thinking about feeling anxiety gives me anxiety, but guess what? There's a way to manage it. For so many years I thought that it was "normal" to be feeling like a chicken with my head cut off with a trillion thoughts running through it at the same time. Duh? Doesn't everyone breathe in short breaths? (trigger warning) ...NO...Here's what talking to a therapist did for me and how I hope to help you. I learned that losing a parent at a very young age, from a terminal illness, really f***ing hurt.
The process wasn't easy, but therapy helped with gaining awareness of all the ways hurt manifested itself, into deep-rooted psychological pain and suffering, affecting everything from my sense of self to my beliefs/values, and all of my relationships. Therapy is not just talking. It's feeling and yes, learning to feel ALL THE FEELS - even the sh**ty ones.
